Pictures of Kathmandu

Kathmandu (1300m) is the capital of Nepal and has 500,000 inhabitants. It is somehow the only developped city but still far behind western standards. Do not hit any of the holy cows walking around on the streets and be aware that any motorized vehicle will rather hit you than an animal. Kathmandu features striking discrepancies between rich and poor and modern and medieval.

Most streets are not solid but mud

Many cows and other animals on the streets

A lot of traffic in KTM, check the mirror to see the soldier

Swayambhunath (the monkey temple)

Boudhanath (the largest stupas in Nepal)

Pashupatinath (the holiest site for Hindus in Nepal)

Basantapur (Kathmandu Tower)

White Tara temple (looking worse than Trafalgar Square)
